Job Description:
The Competitive Portfolio Partner develops and manages the competitive engagement assets and programs that drive commercial performance across the J&J IM — for example, an Advanced Selling Academy or a MOSAIC Competitive Selling build. This is visible, high-stakes work that connects directly to how J&J commercial teams compete and grow. Partnering closely with the Portfolio Lead, this role carries an assigned area from scope through launch to measurement: developing content, safeguarding accuracy and compliance, meeting committed timelines, and integrating field feedback to sustain relevance and impact. The Portfolio Partner is a trusted operational owner who runs an assigned area of the portfolio independently and surfaces the decisions, risks, and trade-offs that warrant the Portfolio Lead's attention — with real room to lead, build, and leave a fingerprint on programs that scale across functions.
Key Responsibilities
• Own an assigned workstream(s) end to end. Manage a designated course or module from scope through launch and measurement, coordinating SMEs and facilitators and delivering against committed timelines.
• Ensure content integrity and compliance. Maintain rigorous oversight of quality standards, ensuring all learning offerings meet the accuracy, documentation, and compliance approval processes/requirements of a highly regulated life sciences environment.
• Provide subject-matter input . Apply deep domain knowledge to guide content decisions, interpret business developments into portfolio implications, and facilitate learning interventions within the assigned area.
• Program Management: Sustain the measurement strategy end to end. Define success metrics and baselines pre-launch, then track, analyze, and report performance post-launch — including usage and adoption rates
• Own program adoption and logistics . Drive enrollment, scheduling, and end-to-end coordination for programs and cohorts — managing rosters, facilitators, and communications to ensure a seamless learner experience and strong uptake.
• Maintain metadata and taxonomy integrity. Uphold accurate tagging and metadata to support reliable mapping, searchability, reporting, and day-to-day data quality.
• Lead workstream communications. Own the communication strategy for the assigned workstream — translating portfolio direction into clear, timely messaging that drives alignment, adoption, and action across Sales, Medical, KAM, FRM, and Marketing stakeholders.
• Identify gaps and lifecycle opportunities. Surface overlaps, unmet needs, and retirement candidates, supported by performance data and field insight, and provide informed recommendations.
• Escalate risks and issues appropriately. Raise portfolio-level risks, quality concerns, and matters requiring cross-portfolio coordination or leadership attention ahead of impact.
• Represent the assigned workstream(s) in key forums. S upport in speaking for the assigned area (s) in governance discussions and cross-functional planning, driving alignment and ensuring follow- through on actions.
• Support time-sensitive business requests. Respond to urgent leadership and launch needs, and conduct post-implementation reviews to capture learnings and inform continuous improvement.
• Strengthen team effectiveness. Contribute through knowledge sharing, onboarding, and peer collaboration to promote consistency and operational continuity across portfolios.
Core Competencies / Personal Attributes
• Forward Thinking & Innovation: Anticipates future business and learning needs, brings a proactive, future-oriented mindset, and continuously evolves the portfolio ahead of demand.
• Sales Expertise & Sales Leadership: Draws on strong first-hand sales and sales leadership experience to ground content in field reality and lead with credibility across commercial audiences.
• Matrixed Collaboration: Operates effectively within a complex, matrixed organization, partnering across functions, TAs, and portfolios to drive alignment without direct authority.
• Technical Proficiency: Applies strong computer and digital skills across portfolio tools, platforms, and reporting systems, with a commitment to adopting emerging technologies.
• Portfolio Ownership & Execution: Independently manages workstream performance, risks, dependencies, and lifecycle actions with minimal oversight.
• Prioritization & Judgment: Weighs demand, value, and constraints to make sound recommendations on enhancements, sequencing, and retirements.
• Stakeholder Relationship Management: Builds and sustains trusted relationships across business stakeholders, SMEs, and cross-functional partners.
• Communication & Influence: Clearly conveys priorities, changes, and recommendations to drive alignment and pr
