WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview): 

We are currently seeking an innovative recovery professional to serve as a Community Recovery Manager (CRM) in support of the LA Wildfires Long-Term Recovery Operation in California. This is a term-limited, benefits eligible position expected to last until January 31, 2028. This is a hybrid position based in California, frequent travel to impacted communities will be required.

We are currently seeking an innovative recovery professional to serve as a Community Recovery Manager (CRM) for the LA Wildfires Long-Term Recovery Operation in California. This is a term-limited, benefits eligible position expected to last until January 2028. This is a hybrid position based in California, with strong preference for candidates living in the impacted communities of the Eaton Fire footprint. Frequent travel to communities impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires of January 2025 will be required.

On January 8, 2025, the Los Angeles Wildfires, stoked by the Santa Ana winds, eventually burned large swaths of highly urbanized sections of Los Angeles County. The wildfires destroyed more than 16,000 structures in California. For those impacted, recovery remains a long road. The American Red Cross remains on the ground to support impacted households and coordinate with stakeholders.

The position supports the American Red Cross’s Long-Term Recovery Program in Los Angeles to support impacted communities, providing recovery programming and services to individuals, households, and communities affected by these wildfires. The ideal candidate will reside in the wildfire impacted communities of Greater Pasadena.

The Community Recovery Manager will report to the Senior Community Recovery Manager of the Los Angeles Wildfire Long-Term Recovery Program. The Manager will liaise directly with local partners and provide guidance relating to both Red Cross specific and broader recovery services and processes. The Manager will also collect information on community gaps/needs and partners operating in the recovery which will be critical to the development and ongoing monitoring of the Los Angeles Wildfire Long-Term Recovery Program strategy. The Manager will be a vital member of the greater Wildfire LTR team and work closely with other Red Cross stakeholders, including the Region and Division, NHQ DCS, Long-Term Recovery Operation team, and the DRO structure. A successful candidate will be a skilled listener with rich experience in partner coordination and community organizing.

This is a term-limited position through January 2028 with extension based on business need.

  Responsibilities: • Represent the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Wildfire Long-Term Recovery Program as a liaison with local partners and recovery entities • Act as a facilitative leader in Los Angeles to continually assess needs and gaps in the long-term recovery space and work to strengthen partnerships with various entities (NGOs, government, etc.) active in the recovery, offering recovery resources for disaster-affected households and communities  • Act to identify, document, and share vital community resources/needs/gaps through the wildfire LTRO structure to inform the development and continued monitoring of the Los Angeles Wildfire Long-Term Recovery programming strategy • Work to identify community concerns and escalate issues to leadership for awareness and early intervention  • Engage a broad cross-section of internal stakeholders, external partners, government, and community groups to identify and address community resource gaps   • Work as an advocate to ensure that Red Cross services reach all affected populations, prioritizing under-resourced, vulnerable, and underserved communities in Los Angeles • Support the development of local recovery organizing and collaboration efforts, such as Long-Term Recovery Groups (LTRGs), recovery collaboratives and other relevant initiatives   • Support the collection of qualitative and quantitative data collection for continued program monitoring and reporting processes • Document Los Angeles Wildfire Long-Term Recovery Program activities and relevant community recovery information to empower the Red Cross Region and Division to continually
