Summary The Clinical Team Coordinator (CTC) supports daily clinical operations, provides direct patient care, and assists the Nurse Manager in ensuring alignment with the organization's clinical vision, operational priorities, and standards of care. The CTC serves as a frontline clinical leader with responsibility for coordinating patient care delivery, staffing operations, workflow management, and day-to-day supervision of clinical staff. This role provides operational and clinical support across all shifts, including participation in on-call, holiday, weekend, and other coverage requirements as needed to ensure continuity of care and operational effectiveness. The CTC supports operational excellence by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, monitoring clinical performance, developing staff, and driving continuous improvement in patient outcomes, patient experience, and care quality.
Job Duties • Serves as a clinical and operational resource to support patient care delivery and clinical operations on a 24/7 basis. This may include participation in departmental scheduling requirements such as on-call, holiday, weekend, and other coverage needs. As operational demands require, may provide direct patient care and assume clinical responsibilities to support safe, effective operations and continuity of care. Provides leadership, guidance, and escalation support for clinical staff, assisting with decision-making, problem-solving, and operational challenges. Supervises a team of nurses, providing day-to-day direction to ensure efficient workflow, productivity, quality outcomes, and service excellence. Assigns and coordinates work activities to achieve operational goals, maintain regulatory compliance, and support a safe, patient-centered care environment.
• Promotes a culture of respect, safety, and compassion by ensuring care delivery aligns with patient preferences, priorities, and cultural values through staff oversight and operational leadership.
• Collaborates with the medical staff to facilitate consistency of interdisciplinary plans of care and patient throughput. May work to justify and gain cooperation of other parties on nursing policies, practices, and procedures.
• Manages day-to-day elements of the budget. Responsible for completing in a timely manner the unit’s staff schedules, to ensure adequate staffing to meet patient care needs and maintain quality care. Adjusts staffing in real time and authorizes overtime or scheduling changes to fill time-sensitive shifts as necessary. Responsible for completing payroll reconciliation and sign off. Identifies workflow or staffing concerns and communicates trends to the Nurse Manager.
• Takes appropriate action to follow up and resolve any issues or complaints raised by patients, families, and physicians through effective communication and escalation protocols.
• Collaborates with the Nurse Manager to evaluate, maintain and improve clinical team member performance. Consults on performance evaluations and may be responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to staff. Under guidance of Nurse Manager, issues verbal warnings for performance or behavioral concerns; escalates higher‑level discipline to the Nurse Manager. Supports in creation of educational programs and setting minimum competencies.
• Consults Nurse Manager in budget forecasting and development of cost saving activities.
• Supports nursing professional development, Magnet, and Shared Governance by actively participating in and mentoring colleagues through unit-based committees, councils, quality improvement initiatives, and the Clinical Ladder program.
• Responsible for evaluating quality of clinical practice to ensure compliance with organization, department and unit specific goals. Makes adjustments or recommended enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of the nursing practice. Supports nursing research, EBP projects, and innovation initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing (BSN). • 2 years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting. • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or
• RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_NJ - State of New Jersey Upon Hire
Preferred Qualifications • Master’s Degree of Science in Nursing (MSN). • Less than 1 year prior leadership experience.
Additional Qualifications • Current RN licensure in state of practice. BLS required based on organizational guidelines/polices. Certification in specialty preferred If Certification is required on a specific unit; certification must be obtained within six months of hire date.
