WHAT WE NEED Clinical Cardiac Testing Specialist

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR Diagnostic tests are important tools for physicians. They rely on the people who perform those tests to do so competently and accurately. Our Clinical Cardiac Testing Exercise Physiologist performs cardiac testing procedures, assessments, and much more. It’s a hands-on, patient care position.

WHAT YOU WILL DO • Document patient care information and ensure timely and accurate completion of patient care records in accordance with policies and procedures.

• Communicate with appropriate personnel regarding abnormal finding and patient progress.

• Conduct pre-test screening with thorough chart review to gather relevant medical history.

• Interview patient and provide education on cardiac testing.

• Complete pre-test assessment of vitals (heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure and symptoms).

• Start IV's and administer medication intravenously under physician direction.

• Adhere to nuclear medicine safety measures throughout nuclear cardiac procedures.

• Interpret 12 lead EKGs. Recognize changes in routine wave forms, artifact as well as critical conditions such as segment elevation/depression, infarct patterns and life threatening arrhythmias.

• Perform standard resting electrocardiograms and apply holter and cardiac event monitoring systems. Instruct patients on monitoring and ensure follow-up with the physician.

WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED • Prior Physical Medicine/Rehabilitation experience.

• Understanding of professional regulation and facility/program accreditation requirements.

• Knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology with applications to developing personal exercise programs.

• Knowledge of all aspects of Basic Life Support (BLS) emergency care.

• Understanding of causes and consequences of illness, injuries, and disabilities.

• Knowledge of procedures and protocols necessary to provide patient safety.

• Typical and atypical human systems and development knowledge.
