About this role

The technology that serves our clinicians should feel as human as the care they give.

Brightline is redefining pediatric behavioral health at scale — combining technology, clinical excellence, and family partnership to deliver care to children and adolescents nationally.

As we grow, our technology and product decisions will determine whether our clinicians feel supported or burdened, whether a therapist's evening ends with clarity or administrative noise, and whether a care team surfaces the right information exactly when it matters — or misses it.

We're looking for a Chief Technology & Product Officer who understands that in behavioral health, technology is never neutral. Every workflow, every interface, every API decision either adds to or subtracts from the emotional bandwidth of the people doing the hardest work in healthcare. That means using automation and AI to eliminate repetitive, low-judgment work so clinicians can focus on the human moments that define great care — anchored throughout by data privacy, security, compliance, and reliability.

This role is:

- A full executive seat owning product, engineering, IT, security, compliance, and our physical footprint — scaling and uplevelling these functions to match our growth velocity.

- Accountable for the full surface area of Brightline's technology: family-facing, clinician-facing, partner-facing, and internal.

- A disciplined build-vs-buy-vs-partner strategist with a framework and the conviction to defend it.

- A hands-on leader who moves between board-level strategy and technical architecture — managing technical debt, integrating our physical clinics with our digital stack, and deploying secure IT infrastructure.

- A leader who treats behavioral health as a distinct, high-stakes domain where clinical excellence, data privacy, and regulatory trust are inseparable from delivery urgency.

Why This Role

Behavioral health technology is at an inflection point. The question is no longer whether AI belongs in the field — it does. The question is whether it drives better care outcomes, or is just measurably faster. Today's clinical tools range from genuinely transformative to quietly debilitating, often built for billing rather than healing.

Brightline has an opportunity — and a responsibility — to build differently: making deliberate calls about what we build ourselves because it's core to our clinical model, and what we acquire because speed and quality warrant it.

Brightline's model is care delivered by people, powered by technology. The human clinician is the centerpiece — the irreplaceable relationship that drives outcomes in a Family Mental Health Home model. This role exists to make that clinician more capable, more present, and less burned out.

This is a rare role where technical excellence and clinical empathy carry equal weight, across every stakeholder — child, parent, clinician, operator — each of whom experiences the care journey differently. The measure of a successful product sprint isn't throughput; it's whether a family received seamless support while the therapist ended their week more supported than when it started.

If that's the product leader you are, we want to build this with you.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Four interconnected domains, sequenced under a single product and technology vision:

Family & Patient Digital Experience — The front door and ongoing journey for every family: Connect, our digital content library, digital interventions and assessments, appointment management, and BrightLife Kids. You'll re-envision how families discover and benefit from Brightline outside synchronous sessions — progress tracking, digital assignments, the full wrap-around experience — treating this consumer-facing surface as a clinical product measured by engagement that translates to outcomes, not a marketing one.

Provider Tooling & Care Operations — The everyday tools clinicians and care teams rely on: ambient scribe, EMR, clinical notes, scheduling, patient chat. Every minute returned here is a minute given back to clinical judgment, patient connection, or the clinician's own life. You'll treat documentation burden, context switching, and opaque workflows as patient safety issues, and own clinician experience as deliberately as we own patient experience.

Partnerships & Operations Technology — The systems that make Brightline a credible operator at scale: revenue cycle management, claims and payments, scheduling infrastructure, payer integrations, and interoperability with external EMRs and health system partners. You'll define how Brightline plugs into the broader healthcare ecosystem without losing our clinical identity, and own the operational health of the platform — uptime, SLAs, and technical debt — as we scale across a growing multi-state footprint.

Internal Tech Stack, Security & Employee IT — The technology backbone of Brightline as a company: AI tooling, productivity platforms (Elios, Jira, Notion, and beyond), and employee IT. You'll set the standard for how a modern healthcare company equips its people, and own our security and compliance posture — HIPAA, SOC 2, 42 CFR Part 2, and state-level behavioral health data requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy, Architecture & Roadmap

- Define and own Brightline's multi-year product and technology roadmap across all four domains, in partnership with clinical, operational, growth, and finance leaders.

- Lead the build-vs-buy-vs-partner framework; establish the criteria and hold the org accountable to the logic behind them.

- Evaluate and prioritize emerging technology (AI/ML, ambient documentation, clinical decision support, interoperability standards) based on genuine clinical impact.

- Own the technology architecture vision: scalability, security, compliance, and long-term data infrastructure. Assess current positioning and articulate our path to AI-native infrastructure.

- Ensure AI-assisted and automation f
