Job Description

I.PURPOSE & PRIMARY FUNCTIONS The Surgical Tech handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care a during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.

Duties as follows: • Checks Supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure, such as scrubs, gowns and gloves.

• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and medications/solutions needed for surgery.

• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation ad n before incision is closed.

II.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Licensure/Certification/ Registration: • BLS Certification

• Surgical Technologist certification required

Education: • Graduate of an approved Surgical Technologist program

Other Qualifications: • Well organized and possess high degree of manual dexterity

• 3 years experience in a hospital-based surgical service preferred

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service and communication skills required 

• OR equivalent combination of the above
