Job Summary

The Breast Imaging Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and day-to-day operations of the Breast Imaging team, including mammography, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI guided biopsy services. Our Breast Imaging Supervisor role manages staff schedules, ensures regulatory compliance with MQSA and ACR standards, oversees all patient care navigation responsibilities, occasionally assists in performing breast imaging studies if staffing warrants, and coordinates clinical workflows with radiologists, surgeons, and oncology teams. The Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining high-quality imaging standards, supporting technologist development, ensuring there are efficient navigation support for patients, and fostering a culture of excellence in patient care and safety.

Essential Functions : • Oversee all patient navigation responsibilities to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care is provided. • Arranges and coordinates patient appointments for follow-up examinations related to breast care. • Enter pathology results into Radiology’s management information system (RIS). Produce standard and ad-hoc reports from this information system germane to breast imaging. • Explain to patients, in laymen’s terms, results from breast imaging studies and pathology reports, and address all questions posed by patients and family members. • Obtain brief medical histories from patients who are scheduled for procedures, being alert to conditions that may affect the patient’s ability to physically or emotionally tolerate the procedure. Inform technologists and radiologists of special circumstances such as a patient who takes anticoagulant medications, or who is highly anxious. • Provides continuity of care for patients while they are in the Radiology Department, as needed. (35%)

• Scheduling, Staffing, and Communication- Manages daily and monthly staff schedules. Provides real-time communication on staffing changes, equipment downtime, and workflow adjustments. Coordinates cross-coverage, training, and onboarding for new team members. Ensures ongoing readiness for regulatory review across all breast imaging facilities. (20%)

• Team Leadership and Supervision- Directly supervises clinical and non-clinical team members, including technologists & healthcare assistants. Manages daily assignments, performance reviews, and ongoing competency development. Promotes teamwork, professional growth, and accountability across all roles. (10%)

• Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation Management- Oversees all MQSA, ACR, and state inspection processes, including on-site inspections, accreditation applications, and annual submissions. Maintains required records and documentation for personnel, equipment, QC, and outcome audits. Manages log books, QC testing, equipment documentation, and corrective action tracking. (10%)

• Collaboration and Interdepartmental Coordination- when necessary assists technologists in serving as liaison between Breast Imaging, Surgery, Oncology, and the Operating Room to coordinate add-on procedures, same-day diagnostics, and biopsy scheduling. Collaborates with radiologists on imaging protocols, patient care decisions, and process improvements. (5%)

• Administrative and Leadership Responsibilities- Allocates dedicated administrative time weekly for leadership duties, including performance management, policy development, budget monitoring, and operational planning. Participates in departmental leadership meetings and supports strategic and quality initiatives. (10%)

• Operations, Equipment, and Supply Management- Monitors and maintains equipment functionality, coordinating with vendors, BioMed, and Engineering for service or repair. Oversees supply levels and purchasing coordination with Central Supply. Participates in capital planning, space design, and new equipment evaluations. (5%)

• Clinical Operations and Quality Oversight- When staffing warrants assists in conducting ordered breast imaging studies while maintaining high-level image quality. Administers contrast, positions patients appropriately, and communicates exam expectations. Provides hands-on clinical support and guidance to staff during imaging and biopsy procedures when necessary. Ensures consistent image quality, patient safety, and compliance with established protocols. (5%)

Education : • Associate's Degree Required

Work Experience : • 1-3 years of Breasting Imaging experience. Required and

• 1-3 years Supervisory experience - Minimum of 6 months - Preferred.

Licenses : • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required and

• RTR-RT Radiography - ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Required and

• RTM-RT Mammography - ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : • Proficiency in mammography, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI biopsy procedures.

• In-depth knowledge of MQSA, ACR accreditation requirements, and equipment documentation.

• Ability to oversee and maintain quality assurance programs and regulatory compliance.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

• Knowledge of how to address age-specific care needs of patients. Effective interpersonal skill sets that lead to productive communications and collaborations.

• Ability to provide coaching, feedback, and technical guidance to technologists and staff.

• Skilled in operating imaging systems and interpreting physician orders.

• Demonstrates sound judgment in patient positioning, imaging settings, and safety practices.
