What We Want The Automotive Parts Specialist I, under general supervision, assists in managing an automotive parts department. Receives, handles, records, stores, and issues a variety of automotive parts.

What You Need To Know Pay: $17.78 A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended . 

Qualifications Required Education and Experience: • High School Diploma or GED.

• Two years of experience in the automotive/heavy equipment parts industry, warehouse or retail stock management, or a combination of these experiences.

Required Licenses and Certifications: • Must have a valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicles and a good driving record, or ability to obtain State of Texas class “C” vehicle operator’s license within 30 days of employment.

  Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Ability to work independently.

• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities • Parts Administration - Reconciles invoices with both system records and actual deliveries. Stocks delivered parts, labeling and placing in designated locations. Utilizes the fleet management software provided to manage, track, maintain and protect the inventory stored in all parts-rooms. Drives a university-owned vehicle to obtain parts that are not deliverable or need identification. Mount/dismount and clean bus/truck tires and rims. Bills parts to work orders from stock parts and parts that are received directly from vendors to fulfill parts requests. Enters work order status updates in fleet management software.

• Customer Service - Answers phone calls from customers and vendors. Assists walk-in customers and vehicle maintenance technicians to find needed parts. Provides advice to technicians on parts needed for repairs being performed. Visually inspects vehicles to determine parts need at technician request. Fulfills parts request forms received from technicians by ordering parts. Utilizes online portals or phone to order parts from vendors. Delivers parts to the mechanics, or places on the “parts ready for pick-up” shelf based on need.

• Inventory Control- Assists with the following inventory control tasks: Monitors inventory by running reports on inventory turns. Sets up and adjusts minimum and maximum reorder points. Removes obsolete parts from inventory. Monitors fluid inventory, except for fuel. Tracks part warranties to recover money or replacement parts as applicable.. Provides support for physical inventory by assisting with locating parts and answering basic inventory questions. Assists with monthly cycle counts. Assists with special projects related to parts inventory.

  Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.

• Frequent lifting, carrying, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and walking.

• Ability to work outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat.

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Other Requirements and Factors: • This position is security sensitive.

• This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules, and procedures.

• All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.

• Persons in this position will be required to drive state vehicle to travel to various parts of campus and are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc.

• Works beyond normal office hours and/or on weekends. The working hours for this position will be 10 am to 7 pm. This position will also be encouraged to work the two special events a year.

• Will be required to work Saturday home football games as needed.
