About this role

The Audit Letter Research Assistant supports the Audit Letter Review Committee and Office of the General Counsel by conducting client and matter research, compiling information from firm systems, and assisting with the preparation of audit inquiry responses. This position performs a variety of administrative, research, and data entry functions to support the accurate and timely completion of audit letter requests. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct client, matter, and corporate research using firm systems and databases in support of audit inquiry requests. • Review audit inquiry letters and gather required information and supporting documentation. • Communicate with attorneys, administrative professionals, and Audit Letter Review Committee members regarding requests and follow-up items. • Assist in compiling, verifying, and organizing data for audit letter responses. • Review reports and firm system data for accuracy and completeness. • Maintain audit letter records, databases, and tracking tools. • Learn and effectively utilize firm research, intake, and conflicts management systems. • Assist with process documentation, special projects, and departmental initiatives. • Perform administrative support and other duties as assigned • Actively support and engage in the firm's Responsible Business initiatives, contributing to our commitments to our people, clients, communities, and the environment. • Provide support on emerging priorities and undertake additional responsibilities as needed to meet evolving business requirements.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Analytical reasoning ability is essential. • Strict attention to detail and excellent writing skills are a must. • Must possess strong organizational skills. • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of attorneys and staff. • Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. • Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and follow through with issues in order to meet critical deadlines and maintain compliance objectives while working under pressure in a demanding environment.

WORK SCHEDULE & HOURS EXPECTATIONS

• Core hours are generally Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., including an unpaid meal period. This position is based on a standard 37.5-hour workweek. • Additional or adjusted hours may be required to meet business needs and must be worked in accordance with applicable overtime requirements and firm policies.

In Washington, DC, the expected base salary range for this role is $48,000 to $55,000 per year.

This range reflects a good-faith estimate of pay at the time of posting; the actual compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as the candidate’s qualifications. This position is eligible for additional forms of compensation, which may include annual discretionary bonuses.  Employees in this role are also eligible for benefits offered by the firm, subject to applicable plan terms and conditions, which currently include medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan; and paid time off.
