Job Posting Title: Audio Production Engineer ---- Hiring Department: College of Liberal Arts ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 ---- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt from FLSA ---- Earliest Start Date: Immediately ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Aug 31, 2028 ---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS ---- Job Details: General Notes Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services (LAITS) is seeking highly skilled and motivated professionals to assist with the operations of a unique service department dedicated to creating, maintaining, and promoting technology within the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

This fixed-term position is expected to be funded through August 31, 2028.

Purpose This position will coordinate with UT instructional staff and LAITS project and studio staff on the creation of online courses and other multimedia projects. This position will work both independently and as a group to help run field and studio productions, as well as assist with post-production work as needed. They will help in the upskilling of student audio engineers while also working with other full-time staff. The role will require technical studio knowledge, organizational skills, communication skills, dependability, and the ability to quickly assess and correct issues.

Responsibilities • Record, mix, edit and work on productions with audio needs in the field, in studios and in coordination with other AV crews both within and outside of LAITS.

• Coordinate with LAITS project and studio staff to fully understand requirements of each production and advise on ways of achieving stated goals of those productions.

• Work autonomously and efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously, in pre-production, post-production and production settings.

• Provide training and feedback on productions to various staff, including student employees.

• Create and communicate reports on projects and staff.

• Work with clients to understand the specific needs of projects.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications • At least 1 year experience in the field of radio, television or film program productions with a Bachelor's Degree, or 5 years’ experience with a High School Diploma/GED.

• Strong knowledge of Audio DAWs and Microsoft OHice/Google Workspace.

• Strong knowledge of audio field equipment, including mixers, microphones, loudspeakers, and peripherals.

• Project management experience in setting goals, supervising projects, making deadlines.  

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in related field.

• More than two years of experience in live video broadcast, and the operation of audioor video production equipment.

• Experience in audio production for online education and online courses.

• Working knowledge of Trello, Slack, and Harvest.

• Experience working with UT Austin event teams.

• Very strong communication skills.

• Experience mixing audio for live-streaming events.

• Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and as part of a team or crew.

• Proficiency in using AirTable.

• At least 2 years of professional experience using Yamaha and Allen & Heath digital mixers.

• At least 2 years of running live audio in large venues.

• Professional customer service and support skills in media creation.

• Proven track record of working well with any crew.

• Experience overseeing or training student audio engineers.

• Experience creating daily work plans.

• Level 2 Dante certification.

• Experience working in Workday.

• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

• Experience creating and maintaining file structures on shared server space.

• Professional experience as an audio engineer at The University of Texas at Austin employee

Salary Range $46,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions Environmental Demands: • Work location is on the UT Main Campus.

• Off-campus studio shoots may be required.

• Personally-owned electronic devices will be required in order to communicate effectively with team members.

• May work in extreme temperatures.

• May work around standard office conditions.

• May work around electrical and mechanical hazards
