Job Summary Provides direct patient care and education for fitting, measuring, and dispensing of custom fabricated, prefabricated, and off-the-shelf orthotic devices and other durable medical equipment and supplies.
Essential Functions • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
• Provides fitting, measuring, and dispensing of custom fabricated, prefabricated, and off-the-shelf orthotic devices and soft goods including upper and lower body, spine, and ambulatory aids.
• Provides patient/caregiver education for usage, maintenance, and care of the orthoses.
• Ensures timely collection of physician prescriptions, patient demographics, insurance information, and medical records for billing purposes.
• Assists in scheduling patient appointments for initial fittings and follow-up visits in the Equipped for Life office.
• Assists in stocking and maintenance of appropriate inventories of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and orthoses.
• Acts as liaison between clinical staff and billing staff to ensure proper documentation for insurance to determine medical necessity.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements • Education - Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field of study p referred.
• Experience - No experience required. One (1) year of DME/bracing and/or Athletic Training experience preferred. Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses • NATABOC Athletic Trainer Certification
• SC Athletic Trainer License/Certification (Required for team members working in South Carolina.)
• CPR Certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, database and data entry
• Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
• Mathematical skills
