Purpose The Associate Coordinator will work alongside the Coordinator and the other Associate Coordinator to perform all functions relating to open records for the University campus. Prepare, interpret, and review policies, agreements and other documents to ensure compliance with applicable State of Texas PIA, Federal HIPAA and Federal FERPA laws.
Responsibilities • Participating as a highly performing team member in the Open Records Department; • Executing assigned tasks with excellence as an Assistant Public Information Coordinator; • Collaborating with department colleagues in decision making; • Organizing and directing document collection and related administrative services; • Reviewing responsive documents to prepare for delivery in response to open records requests; • Mastering policies, guidance, and other materials relating to open records activities; • Providing recommendations and implementing redactions, exceptions, and briefing, as required; • Assisting in developing open records training for the University community and conducting that training; and • Working with University and UT System administration and attorneys on matters relating to open records including reviewing legal briefs.
Required Qualifications Juris doctorate. Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work in a professional manner independently and as a team member. Strong business process skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications At least one year of experience working with the Texas Public Information Act; Experience interpreting and applying the State of Texas rules, regulations, policies, and or procedures relating to open records. Familiarity with GovQA software.
Salary Range $75,000 + depending on qualifications
