Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced business development professional to serve as Associate Director, Business Development within the Landing Systems business. This role will lead business development for the High Temperature Composites (HTC) portfolio within Landing Systems, with primary responsibility for developing and executing growth strategies for advanced carbon/carbon materials and components across propulsion systems, defense applications, and space systems. This is a P6 Associate Director-level individual contributor role requiring expert-level business development experience and the ability to operate with significant independence.
What You Will Do • Develop, recommend, and execute business development and growth strategies for the High Temperature Composites business with direct impact on long-term business results
• Identify, shape, and capture new opportunities that expand Collins' position as a merchant supplier of carbon/carbon materials, components, and related technologies
• Serve as a lead business development interface for complex and strategic prospects, developing long-term relationships with aerospace and defense OEMs, primes, government customers, and strategic partners
• Influence executive and business leadership on market strategy, customer engagement, competitive positioning, investment priorities, and pursuit strategies
• Lead early-stage opportunity shaping, customer engagement, capture strategy, competitive assessment, and business case development for complex strategic opportunities
• Spearhead major pursuit and bid activities, coordinating cross-functional teams through proposal development, customer engagement, negotiation, and contract award
• Partner with Engineering, Program Management, Operations, Finance, Contracts, and other functions to develop customer solutions and executable pursuit and capture strategies
• Work with customers to understand emerging requirements and develop product, technology, and business solutions for future programs
• Identify and pursue U.S. Government funding opportunities supporting technology maturation, qualification, and production readiness, including opportunities through DoD, DARPA, AFRL, ONR, Army, Navy, NASA, and other applicable agencies
• Identify and develop opportunities to leverage HTC capabilities across RTX businesses and programs
• Maintain market and competitive intelligence related to advanced materials, carbon/carbon technologies, propulsion, defense, and space applications and translate insights into actionable business strategies
• Develop and manage a pipeline of new business opportunities and provide leadership visibility into opportunity status, customer priorities, competitive dynamics, and recommended actions
• Support customer engagement, opportunity development, and capture activities for Collins Aerospace Wheels & Brakes and Landing Gear businesses as required
• Represent Collins Aerospace with customers, industry partners, government organizations, and at relevant industry events and trade shows
• Operate as a recognized thought leader in business development, providing guidance on opportunity development, capture strategy, and business development best practices
• Travel up to 30% to support customer engagement, industry events, and business development activities
Qualifications You Must Have • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience
• Experience with carbon/carbon, ceramic matrix composites, high-temperature materials, or other advanced aerospace materials
• Experience developing new aerospace and defense applications for emerging technologies
Qualifications We Prefer • Familiarity with U.S. Government R&D and acquisition processes
• Established relationships within aerospace primes or propulsion system OEMs
• Experience developing and executing merchant supplier or new-market growth strategies
• Experience with aerospace Wheels & Brakes, Landing Gear, or related Landing Systems products
