This position may be required to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.   National and international travel required. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular on-site hours. Team assignments  may include Softball, assistant to Men’s Basketball and other sporting assignments.

This position is designated as an Administrative Officer and serves without a fixed term and at the pleasure of the President, pursuant to Regents Rule 20102 and the University’s Handbook of Operating Procedures 1-1020, “Officers of Administration.”

Fuel to Win: As a strategic member of the Performance Nutrition Team, the Assistant Sports Dietitian will represent our program values, connect and consult with stakeholders spanning student-athletes, coaches, and support staff. This role maximizes sports performance nutrition, provides clinical care, and delivers nutrition education expertise to fuel University of Texas student-athletes to achieve the highest level of performance. Reports to the Associate Director or Assistant Director for Performance Nutrition, as assigned, with clinical oversight provided by the Assistant Athletics Director for Performance Nutrition & Clinical Dietetics. Each member of the Texas Performance Nutrition staff is expected to embody the winning culture of the University of Texas, communicating positivity, optimism, and a spirit of shared success. Responsibilities • Individualized Nutrition Counseling & Clinical Care: Provide individual nutrition counseling and clinical case management for assigned teams, with clear communication and escalation to the Assistant Athletics Director for Performance Nutrition & Clinical Dietetics on high-risk or complex cases. Utilize all tools, resources, and established relationships to deliver individualized nutritional care that supports performance, health, and wellness. Collaborate with sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and mental health staff to coordinate comprehensive athlete care.

• Team Coverage & Travel : Provide nutrition support for practices, competition, and travel for assigned teams as warranted. Travel with assigned teams as required, including operating a UT or rental vehicle.

• Nutrition Education & Outreach: Develop and deliver group nutrition education initiatives utilizing a variety of platforms, including grocery store tours, cooking demonstrations, technology, print materials, and social media. Provide nutrition support for fuel stations, in-venue signage, and athlete-facing education aligned with TPN messaging and standards.

• Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain successful relationships with student-athletes, coaches, and support staff that result in trust, loyalty, and meaningful buy-in and behavior change.

• Operations & Program Support: Assist with the management of fuel stations and the supervision and training of performance nutrition volunteers and operations assistants. Assist in monitoring menu implementation and nutrition education initiatives at the Texas Athletics Nutrition Center (TANC), in coordination with the TANC dietitian. Investigate potential supplements and ensure nutrition supplement use policies and procedures are current and enforced.

• Other duties as assigned. Drive a UT or rental vehicle on and off campus.

• Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics. Always act ethically. Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program. Actively participate in assigned education and training programs. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. In compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and Texas Education Code Sec. 51.252, this position may be a Non-Confidential Employee as defined by University policies on Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Interpersonal Violence and Stalking.  As a Non-Confidential Employee, individuals employed in this position will report incidents of such prohibited conduct to the University’s Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Title IX Coordinator as required by applicable law or University policy.
