In addition to our established nine-bed Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, we are opening a new 15-bed Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in our new Neurological Building , with continued growth planned for the future. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced nurses to join a highly specialized team and help shape a new unit while expanding their clinical expertise.
As the Assistant Nurse Manager , you will have a unique opportunity to help launch and shape this new 15-bed Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. You’ll work alongside nursing and multidisciplinary leaders to establish a strong culture of clinical excellence, teamwork, accountability, and compassionate family-centered care. This is more than a leadership role—you’ll be part of creating the standards, workflows, and team environment that will support the unit as it grows.
In this role, you will serve as a visible clinical and operational leader, providing real-time support to nurses and collaborating closely with physicians, EEG technologists, advanced practice providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team. You will evaluate and coach nursing staff, support professional development, address performance and attendance concerns, and initiate corrective action when needed. You’ll partner with Nurse Managers to resolve unit-based operational and patient care issues, monitor workflow and staffing needs, promote efficient operations, and proactively escalate significant clinical or performance concerns.

Schedule • Full-time position
• Hours: 7:00pm - 7:30am
A caregiver who excels in this role will: • Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit staff and other departments and units regarding issues related to patient care.
• Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts, coordinate patient admitting, discharges, transfers and other operational issues.
• Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
• Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of nurses and other direct and indirect patient care providers.
• Counsel employees on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and collaborate in monitoring attendance issues.
• Alert Nurse Manager of significant clinical or other performance issues.
• Participate in interviewing, selecting and appraising the performance of employees.
• Monitor the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.
• Administer Nursing Institute, departmental and CC policies and procedures.
• Supervise and participate in the daily delivery of patient care on assigned unit/area.
• Prepare schedule of work assignments, assuring adequate coverage on all shifts.
• Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcome studies and research initiatives.
• Participate in department groups and committees as assigned.
• Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Certification must be presented upon hire.
• Two years of recent clinical nurse experience
• Demonstratable clinical knowledge and skills; oral, written and interpersonal skills; and strong analytical and organization skills
Physical Requirements: • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
• Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
• Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment: • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
