McKesson Medical-Surgical is seeking an Area Sales Manager to lead our Post-Acute Care sales team across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. This is an exceptional opportunity to inherit a highly respected team that includes both tenured top performers and newer representatives with tremendous potential.
We're looking for a leader who can bring a geographically dispersed team together, foster a culture of collaboration and accountability, and lead by example in the field. The ideal candidate is a coach and mentor who is passionate about helping individuals grow while driving exceptional business results. This is a highly visible leadership role with approximately 75% field engagement. Success requires being present with your team, building customer relationships, and providing hands-on coaching throughout the region.

Job Summary The Area Sales Manager is responsible for leading a team of Post-Acute Care Field Sales Representatives across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas while delivering sustainable revenue growth and achieving business objectives. This leader will oversee a region projected to generate more than $125M in annual revenue, provide strategic direction to the team, and foster a high-performance culture focused on customer success, employee development, and operational excellence.
Success in this role requires balancing business leadership with hands-on field engagement. The Area Sales Manager will partner closely with sales representatives, key customers, and internal stakeholders to drive growth, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure exceptional execution across the territory. The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen with a people-first leadership style and demonstrates a passion for coaching, developing talent, and leading by example.
Minimum Requirements 9 years professional experience 1+ years leading people directly or indirectly Valid Driver's License: 7-Year Motor Vehicle Record Check completed during pre-employment
Preferred Location: To best support the territory, we strongly prefer candidates located in Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio, with Dallas being the preferred location. Relocation assistance is not available.
Field Engagement: 75% Local and/or Travel
Compensation & Incentives: This role offers a highly competitive compensation package with significant upside through management incentives, sales performance rewards, and long-term incentive opportunities. • Base Salary: $150,000
• 20% Annual Management Incentive Bonus
• $56,000 Sales Incentive Opportunity
• $668 Monthly Auto Allowance or Company Car
• Long-Term Incentive (LTI) Eligibility
Targeted Critical Skills • Proven success leading and developing field-based sales teams, including coaching, performance management, talent development, and employee engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence geographically dispersed teams while fostering collaboration, accountability, and a high-performance culture.
• Strong customer-facing and consultative selling skills, with success building relationships and influencing executive-level decision makers.
• Deep business and financial acumen with the ability to analyze performance trends and drive strategic growth initiatives.
• Experience utilizing data, reporting tools, and CRM platforms such as Salesforce and Power BI to inform business decisions and maximize sales effectiveness.
• Comfort spending significant time in the field supporting sales representatives, engaging customers, and leading by example.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills with the ability to influence across multiple levels of the organization.
Additional Preferred Experience • Experience selling into or supporting the Post-Acute Care market, including Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs), Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs), Hospice, and Home Health customers.
• Existing customer relationships within the territory are highly valued.
• Healthcare, medical distribution, or related industry experience.
• Experience leading multi-state territories and geographically dispersed teams.

• Support both experienced and emerging sales professionals through regular field travel, coaching, mentorship, and career development.
• Recruit, onboard, develop, and retain top sales talent while creating an environment where employees feel supported, engaged, and empowered to succeed.
Customer & Market Leadership • Serve as a visible leader in the field by partnering with sales representatives on customer engagements, strengthening key relationships, and identifying opportunities for growth.
