Location: Oncology Consultants - Business Office Pay Range: $87,318.40 - $181,355.20
Position Summary
This role involves providing high-quality, patient-centered care through virtual platforms while actively contributing to the practice's quality improvement and innovation efforts. The ideal candidate is a skilled clinician who thrives in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and is committed to advancing patient outcomes and practice excellence.
Key Performance Areas
KPA1 - Virtual Oncology Clinical Care • Provide high-quality virtual oncology care for patients across assigned clinics lacking on-site APP coverage.
• Conduct virtual infusion coverage, urgent care visits, follow-up appointments, and APP-led initiatives.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop treatment plans, manage oncology-related symptoms, and coordinate care with supervising physicians.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and imaging as appropriate.
• Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice and applicable regulations.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
• Participate in the provider on-call rotation as assigned following credentialing.
KPA 2 - Patient Experience and Education • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care through virtual encounters.
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, symptom management, and survivorship care.
• Address patient questions and concerns while providing emotional support and promoting informed decision-making.
• Foster positive patient experiences through timely communication and continuity of care.
KPA 3 -Care Coordination and Collaboration • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, high-quality oncology care.
• Support clinics by providing virtual coverage for APP visit overflow and locations without an on-site APP.
• Participate in virtual case conferences, multidisciplinary meetings, and educational sessions.
• Coordinate scheduling and clinical coverage in collaboration with the Clinical Director and APP Manager.
KPA 4 - Quality Improvement and Clinical Excellence • Participate in APP-led quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient care, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to improve virtual care delivery and implement evidence-based best practices.
• Contribute to quality metrics through data collection, performance monitoring, and continuous process improvement.
• Maintain current knowledge of oncology practices, clinical guidelines, and emerging technologies.
KPA 5 -Documentation, Compliance, and Regulatory Standards • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, evidence-based clinical guidelines, and all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, privacy, and quality standards.
• Maintain all required licensure, certifications, credentialing, and professional competencies.
KPA 6 -Professionalism and Organizational Support • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and ethical practice in all interactions.
• Maintain clinical competency through continuing education, professional development, and participation in professional organizations.
• Support the development of colleagues through education, mentoring, and knowledge sharing as appropriate.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Medical Officer, Clinical Director, APP Manager, or Practice Management to support organizational objectives.
Position Qualifications
Education • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies.
Minimum Relevant Experience • Minimum of two (2) years of oncology clinical experience.
• Prior virtual care or telehealth experience preferred.
• Experience leading or participating in quality improvement initiatives preferred.
Certifications/Licenses • Active licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the applicable state of practice (Texas).
• Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• Oncology certification or specialization preferred.
Skills • Proficiency with telehealth platforms and virtual care technology.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary virtual care team.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
• Ability to adapt to evolving technology, clinical practices, and virtual care delivery models.
