JOB SUMMARY The Analyzer Technician is responsible for the startup, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytical and measurement equipment that supports safe and efficient plant and field operations. This role works closely with operations and technical teams to ensure the accuracy and reliability of process analyzers, gas and liquid chromatographs, and measurement systems. Key responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, resolving equipment and process issues, supporting analytical testing and method development, improving data quality, and assisting during plant turnarounds and critical maintenance events. The ideal candidate will have experience working with analytical instrumentation in the energy industry, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Job Profile Summary
The Analyzer Technician is responsible for field start-up and commissioning of analytical and measurement equipment, troubleshooting, and providing technical support, as needed. This individual will be responsible for the preventative maintenance of the assigned equipment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Promote and ensure safe laboratory and field operations by adhering to and advising on chemical handling and safety best practices.
• Support production by monitoring processes, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive operational improvements.
• Enhance and maintain process analytical tools and techniques to improve data accuracy and reliability.
• Provide analytical support for plant and field operations, including method development, troubleshooting, and managing outsourced sample analysis.
• Perform non-routine and specialized analyses to support business needs and evaluate process unit performance.
• Conduct statistical evaluations of proposed specifications and document findings in collaboration with technical teams.
• Recommend updates to standard operating procedures (SOPs) as needed.
• Support efforts during plant turnarounds and critical maintenance activities.
Education • None Required.
Work Experience • 2-4 years experience in the energy field working with measurement equipment.
• 2-4 years Gas/Liquid Chromatograph experience
• Experience and working knowledge of Sample Conditioning Systems, preferred
• Experience with Daniels, Siemens, and ABB gas chromatographs, preferred
• Experience with Spectra Sensors, preferred
• Experience in process operation or process control, preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of: Intermediate chemical analysis and process monitoring.
• Ability to: Troubleshoot routine analytical issues and supports process optimization.
• Ability to: Develop and document standard operating procedures and test methods.
• Skills in: Collaboration cross-functionally to support production and field operations.
• Skills in: Communicating effectively with team members and reports test results accurately.
