About this role

What The Role Is

This role supports competitive sourcing and procurement execution for battery energy storage system (BESS) equipment. This role assists with RFx development and administration, bid evaluations, supplier communications, and preparation of award recommendations, while coordinating across internal stakeholders (Development, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Construction, and Operations) to advance supplier selection, contracting, and purchase order execution. The Analyst will support ongoing contract administration activities, maintaining documentation and trackers, and contributing market intelligence related to suppliers, logistics, tariffs, and policy changes that may impact project cost and schedule.

This position will report to the Senior Manager, Procurement, and can be hybrid-based in Scottsdale, AZ, or Denver, CO offices.

What You'll Be Doing

• Support the Senior Manager, Procurement, and category leads in executing sourcing strategies and procurement activities for equipment focused primarily on BESS equipment

• Administer competitive RFx processes for BESS equipment, including drafting RFx packages, managing Q&A, coordinating bid submissions, and maintaining bidder lists and timelines

• Support supplier evaluation by organizing technical and commercial inputs, documenting clarifications, and helping assess risks and opportunities (commercial terms, schedule, warranty, logistics, and bankability considerations)

• Perform bid evaluations and scenario analyses in Excel to evaluate pricing, inclusions/exclusions, assumptions, and key cost drivers; track and report cost movements throughout negotiations

• Support negotiations by preparing redlines/issue trackers, summarizing supplier responses, and highlighting cost, schedule, and commercial risks for internal review

• Coordinate cross-functionally to support alignment between BESS equipment agreements and related project documents, including EPC agreements, offtake agreements, interconnection, O&M/service agreements, warranties, logistics plans, and commissioning responsibilities

• Assist with scope reviews to help identify gaps, interfaces, and owner-furnished versus contractor-furnished responsibilities for BESS equipment packages

• Support vendor relationship management by scheduling recurring business review meetings and ad-hoc working sessions, documenting decisions and action items, tracking progress toward commercial milestones and deliverables, and recording product roadmap updates.

• Orchestrate and lead the Procurement and Engineering organization’s technology and cost forecasting reporting by gathering and summarizing market and commercial intelligence across all owner-furnished equipment categories (including BESS, solar, and wind)

• Orchestrate monthly reporting by coordinating within the Procurement organization to gather pricing, technology, and sourcing inputs across departments

• Conduct periodic market intelligence, commodity, and pricing assessments and reporting impacting OFE and EPC sourcing efforts

• Maintain sourcing workplans, bidder qualifications, and internal trackers to support timely vendor selection

• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to compile inputs, track open items, and support the timely resolution of questions related to equipment scope, schedule, and commercial terms

• Perform ad hoc analyses related to equipment sourcing, market intelligence analyses, or continuous improvement opportunities identified within the department

• Support internal reviews of material changes and deviations to standard terms by preparing summaries, tracking approvals, and maintaining version control of supplier proposals and draft agreements

• Coordinate with Engineering to gather and maintain BESS equipment specifications, technical requirements, and documentation needed for RFx packages and contracting

• Maintain organized procurement files and correspondence to ensure documentation is complete and audit-ready

• Support project financing diligence by coordinating inputs and responses related to BESS equipment scope, warranties, testing, and delivery schedules

• Provide procurement team support as needed across adjacent categories, including EPC interfaces, balance-of-plant equipment, and O&M/services, while maintaining primary focus on BESS equipment sourcing and contracting

• Assist in the development and implementation of procurement templates, tools, and processes (RFx templates, bid tabs, trackers, and playbooks), including the incorporation of continuous improvement opportunities

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, procurement and supply chain, engineering, or related field

• 1-2 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, contracts administration, project development, battery storage engineering, or a related role

• Experience supporting RFx processes, bid evaluation/levelization, or supplier management for equipment and/or construction-related scopes (energy, industrial, or infrastructure preferred)

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize commercial terms, track issues, and support contract reviews and negotiations

• Ability to travel up to 10%

• Proficient in Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), OneNote, and document control

What Would Be Nice

• Experience with BESS equipment supply agreements and an understanding of key commercial terms (warranty, performance guarantees, liquidated damages, logistics, and commissioning/test requirements)

• Familiarity with battery/PCS supplier landscape and drivers such as lead times, domestic content requirements, tariffs, and shipping constraints

• Experience supporting utility-scale renewables or energy storage projects, including coordination with engineering and construction stakeholders
