Accounting Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting

About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Accounting Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting to play a key role in building and scaling Snorkel's accounting organization.

This position combines technical accounting expertise with operational excellence. You will partner closely with the Controller and Accounting team to own key areas of the monthly close, prepare technical accounting analyses, support financial statement audits, and help establish scalable accounting processes and internal controls.

What You'll Do

Month-End Close & General Accounting

• Support and help lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.

• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.

• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.

• Prepare monthly flux analyses and explain significant balance sheet and income statement variances.

• Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and compliance with U.S. GAAP.

• Assist in improving close processes with the goal of achieving a world-class close timeline.

Technical Accounting

• Research, document, and implement technical accounting guidance under U.S. GAAP.

• Prepare technical accounting memos supporting complex accounting conclusions.

• Partner with business leaders to evaluate accounting implications of new transactions and commercial arrangements.

• Maintain accounting policies and ensure consistent application across the organization.

Areas of ownership may include:

• ASC 606 Revenue Recognition

• ASC 842 Lease Accounting

• Stock-based Compensation (ASC 718)

• Equity transactions and equity rollforward

• Debt accounting and warrant accounting

• Business combinations and asset acquisitions, as applicable

• Significant estimates and management judgments

• Capitalized software and internal-use software accounting

• New accounting standard implementations

Financial Reporting

• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

• Support quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements.

• Prepare audit-ready workpapers and accounting schedules.

• Assist in preparing disclosures for financial statements.

• Develop standardized reporting packages for management and external stakeholders.

Audit & Internal Controls

• Serve as a primary accounting contact for external auditors.

• Coordinate audit requests and maintain organized supporting documentation.

• Prepare accounting position papers and respond to technical accounting inquiries from auditors.

• Support walkthroughs, testing, and implementation of internal controls.

• Assist with developing and documenting accounting policies, narratives, and process documentation.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Partner with Finance, Legal, Revenue, People, and Operations to support new initiatives.

• Review customer contracts for accounting implications.

• Support equity issuances, financing activities, and strategic transactions.

• Assist with bonus accruals, commission accounting, and other compensation-related accounting.

• Participate in special projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes and improve operational efficiency.

• Build scalable accounting processes capable of supporting a rapidly growing organization.

• Develop best practices around reconciliations, documentation, and financial reporting.

• Help strengthen the company's internal control environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

• CPA required or actively pursuing CPA.

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or high-growth technology companies.

• Strong technical accounting knowledge under U.S. GAAP.

• Experience supporting financial statement audits.

• Experience preparing technical accounting memos and accounting policy documentation.

• Strong understanding of financial statement preparation and financial reporting.

• Experience supporting month-end close in a fast-paced environment.

• Advanced knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities with exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Big Four or national public accounting experience.

• CPA license.

• Experience in a high-growth SaaS, AI, or technology company.

• Experience with project-based, milestone-based, or services revenue models.

• Strong understanding of ASC 606.

• Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting.

• Experience accounting for stock-based compen
